Prachtige, stevige planten met heldergroen blad en donkere halmen, waar de lichte zaden prachtig tegen afsteken. Dit graan is sinds mensenheugenis in gebruik voor pap, sterke drank en couscous.

Description:

Millet’s mild flavour lends itself as a background for a variety of flavours. Flavour enhancers include curry, chilli powder, orange, rosemary, onion, chives, parsley, black pepper, bay leaf, thyme, garlic and ginger. To bring out the grain’s nutty flavour, toast it in a dry skillet, stirring constantly, until it gives off a nut-like aroma, about three minutes. The pearl millet grain is nutritious. It has no husk, no tannin, contains five-seven percent oil, and has higher protein and energy levels than maize or sorghum.
