Description:

Velvetleaf has been grown in China since around 2000 BCE for its strong, jute-like fibre. The leaves are edible, stir-fried or in omelette.

Sowing instructions: Germinate at 20-30C on the surface of a good free draining, damp seed compost. Apply a layer of compost, 1.5mm deep. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 7-14 days. Do not exclude light at any stage, as this helps germination. Can also be sown direct outdoors in May
