Description:

Self-seeding creeping plant. A very prostrate herb with pretty red flowers that smile forth in the sun and become shy when the clouds appear. Best used externally, the plant can be washed and squeezed and used as a sponge for cleaning the skin. It does indeed contain saponins. Also used for external poulticing against skin abberations including warts. Probably best not used internally, scarlet pimpernel can be toxic if taken in excess.
